The southwest is favorable. If there is nothing more to undertake, returning is favorable. If there is still something to do, an early start is favorable.

Line 3 carries a burden while riding, an exposed mismatch of load and position. Making it firm turns lower Water into Wind and yields Hexagram 32.

Release your big toe. Companions arrive, and with them comes trust.
At Line 4, the toe is a bond to the first line that must be loosened before other companions can be trusted. This is the traditional relational reading of the body image. Changing Line 4 makes Earth above Water, Hexagram 7.

The exemplary person brings release. Favorable. Even petty people show confidence in the exemplary person.
At Line 5, release is associated with the ruler’s position. Legge reads the final clause as confidence shown even by petty people; Zhu Xi instead reads their withdrawal as evidence of release. Changing Line 5 makes Lake above Water, Hexagram 47.

The duke shoots a falcon perched on a high wall and takes it. Favorable in every respect.
